After a successful first edition, the Roman Arantes Sabajo Alumni Club (Patta Academy) invites you to an evening around the theme ‘COMMUNITY 101, showing up or showing off?’: what does community mean in today’s creative and cultural landscape?Brands like Patta, SMIB and The New Originals have shown how you can build something bigger than yourself from friendship, business and a shared passion. From a deep connection with streetwear, art, music and HipHop principles such as ‘Each One, Teach One’, they managed to create a space of their own, while also making space and paving the way for others.I vs. WeTheir success stories have inspired the next generation of creatives to start their own community. But that’s easier said than done. In a world full of grind culture, social media and competition, self-interest is encouraged above all else. It seems that individualism has become the norm. So, how do we rebuild a sense of ‘we’ in a time when ‘I’ has taken centre stage?The ProgramExpect an inspiring program starting with a premiere screening of a self-made mini-documentary (in collaboration with Scenery & NL Film) about the Patta Academy Alumni Club community. Showcasing the multidisciplinary creatives of the Alumni Club, they will provide you with their insights & experiences about being part of the Patta Academy community. This is followed by an interactive panel talk with different voices from the creative industry, from community builders to experts in the field.
